Bonsai Art
Megumi Bennett, founder of this Bonsai School in Terrey Hills Sydney, teaches with her son Alex, courses for beginners and the advanced student. Megumi gained her B.A. in English Literature in Tokyo. On arriving in Australia in 1974 she continued to develop the bonsai and ikebana skills she had learnt in Japan. Megumi is a graduate of the Ryde School of Horticulture, where she also taught bonsai. In 1999 she founded the Bonsai Society of Sydney.

The Julian Ashton Art School
When Julian Ashton arrived in Australia in 1878 it was at a time when colonial art imitated the English watercolour and when young painters like Arthur Streeton were criticised for depicting the harsh sun-lit landscape. Julian was dismayed by this and became the leader in the battle for Australian art. The school he opened in 1890 is now run by his great grandson, Paul Ashton Delprat, at The Rocks, in Sydney.
