 Do buildings have souls?

Greg will share his insights on how the physical structures and atmospheres that we create, impact on us; what factors contribute to truly meeting - interacting and being with one another.

He will explore questions such as: What are the main purposes of the built environment? How important is the natural environment when designing a new building? What do our homes and workplaces say about us? How do the buildings in which we live and work facilitate connectivity with others and our selves? What makes a space therapeutic or sacred?

Bio

Greg has a particular interest in how physical structures and consciousness effect the atmosphere of the spaces we create in buildings. He has developed his own unique approach to creating interior environments which are both energetically healthy and spiritually uplifting.

Using meditation as a core component of his design practice - Architecture of Spirit - and drawing on traditions from ancient cultures, Greg takes his clients through a spiritual design process including visualisations, mind mapping and earth energy assessment. He has used these principles in a range of projects including Retreat Centres and Meditation Pavilions, and has recently been involved in the design and building of several straw bale and mudbrick structures.

Greg has lectured on consciousness and design at UTS, QIT, UNSW and Bombay School of Architecture and Environmental Studies.

During the last 18 months he and his partner Alison Parr have set up an eco-spiritual retreat centre Gudhara Holisitic Sanctuary in the Southern Highlands south of Sydney as a model of sustainability and personal transformation. This is the fulfillment of a dream built on 20 years of both spiritual study and community activities. Greg feels it is now time to bring this focus into a fuller expression, in greater harmony with the land and our global community.
